Selection Day review – Mr S’s take
Review: For a show which promised cricket as a huge part of it and was endorsed by none other than the master blaster himself, the sports scenes in Selection Day are very poorly directed. Moreover, the movie did not deserve so many characters with so much little to do, despite all the twists and turns it took.
The only exceptions are Ratna Pathak Shah with her quirky, humorous lines and the scenes between Manju and God played by Mohammad Samad and Shiv Pandit respectively. If cricket is your religion, then don’t expect much from this show. Other than that, the story does justice to audiences who’ll
eagerly keep waiting for the second season.
Rating: My rating is 2.5/5.
Who should watch this: If you like parent-child dramas like Taare Zameen Par, Khamoshi, Whiplash or Dead Poets Society, then go for Selection Day. If you love cricket as a genre, I’d still suggest Lagaan.
